Dynasty

The 1980s saw the rise of some of the most iconic television series ever made. One series that stands out is Dynasty, a primetime soap opera that premiered on ABC in January 1981. The show ran for nine seasons and featured a star-studded cast playing the roles of powerful oil tycoons, their families and rivals.

Dynasty focused on the wealthy Carrington family headed by Blake Carrington played by John Forsythe. Blake had a total of five children, two daughters and three sons. The eldest son was Steven Carrington played by Al Corley. Although Steven would eventually marry a woman named Claudia Blaisdel, the marriage would not last and the character would be killed off in 1989

The opening theme Dynasty was a memorable and dramatic orchestral piece featuring intense strings, brass, and percussion. The music was composed by Bill Conti, who is famous for also composing iconic movie scores such as Rocky and The Karate Kid.

The theme perfectly set the tone for the show, which followed the lives of the wealthy, powerful, and dramatic Carrington family.
