The Gods Must Be Crazy is a South African comedy film released in 1980. It follows the journey of Xi, a bushman from the Kalahari Desert, whose tribe encounters a Coca-Cola bottle dropped from an airplane. Believing it to be a gift from the gods, they soon find it causes more problems than it solves, and Xi sets out to return it to the gods. Meanwhile, a clumsy biologist and a group of revolutionaries create comedic chaos in their own storylines, which eventually intersect with Xi’s quest. The film is a humorous take on the differences between technologically advanced societies and indigenous cultures.
